‘Where There Is No One,’ a solo exhibit underway in Tehran by photographer and visual art critic Saeed Fallahfar, portrays his critical perspective on the link between a city and its residents.
Painter and photographer Soudabeh Kordi is the curator. It opened August 18 at Negar Art Gallery and will run through August 23. Visiting hours are 4 to 8 pm.
“In taking the pictures I was searching for the scenes highlighting a disrupted relationship between city and humans,” Fallahfar told Honaronline.
“We reviewed 1,000 photos and eventually selected 20…Not even a leaf is moved in the photos. I gave no direction to any human subject before taking the pictures.
To implement the idea I had in mind, I roamed the streets in Tehran hoping to find what I was looking for. It can be said that I sort of established a discourse  with the city.”
For Fallahfar, the fact that none of the photos are manipulated or given mise-en-scene, is a significant attribute of the exhibit. His expertise in architecture and restoration of historical buildings has helped enrich the photographs.
“This is not a photo exhibition in the conventional sense. It is a reminder for socializing with the city…on August 31, we will take the exhibit to Anzali’s Shahrnoush Gallery (in Gilan).
Negar Art Gallery is located No. 33, Delaram Alley, Roshanai Street, western flank of Qeytarieh Park.
