Puppet theater artists will pay homage to departed colleagues by visiting their resting places, prior to the commencement of the 15th Tehran International Puppet Theater (Mobarak).

On September 12, puppeteers will visit Behesht-e Zahra and pay tributes to famous puppet theater artists Ahmad Khamsei, Kambiz Samimi Mofakham, Javad Zolfaghari, Ardeshir Keshavarzi, Bijan Nemati Sharif, and Ahmad Behabahani.

Chinese Repertoire

China is participating in the festival with three works from three different provinces; a repertoire of Chinese traditional puppet theater.

A medley of short theatrical pieces, the three works narrate different stories of Chinese and world folklore literature. Dialogue is at minimum but music, color, and imagery are in abundance. Earlier the performances were staged at the Asia-Pacific Festival.

Jiang Xi Theater group will have a 45-minute Rod-puppet performance comprising 5 short pieces.

Jin Jiang Theater will bring a Sock-puppet show to the festival which is one of the most original types of Chinese puppet theater traditions. It narrates 4 different stories in 4 parts.

Along with them, Haining group has a performance in Shadow style. This is an episodic performance of two parts.

The performances will be staged from September 13 to 20. Marziyeh Borumand is festival secretary.
