A structure in Mellat Park in north Tehran called ‘Installation #5’ has been selected among the 34 best student design-build projects from around the world in the past year by Archdaily website.

For the third year in a row, Archdaily asked its student readers to submit the design-build projects which they recently worked on. It got hundreds of submissions, its website reported.

‘Installation #5’ is inhabitable urban furniture placed in the middle of Mellat Park in north Tehran, made of rotating steel sections in space and laced together with a dense web of steel cables that produce original ergonomic shapes.

Beneath the structure lies a concrete and steel foundation that supports the intricate tensile structure.

It is created by CAAT Studio in Tehran which has been involved in architecture and construction from 2010. Architect Mehdi Kamboozia is the executive director of the studio who has worked on the project along with students Helena Qanbari, Behrang Baniadam, Aria Goleh, Shamim Aqazadeh, Ashkan Radnia, Mehran Alinejad and Atieh Aqayi.

ArchDaily is a platform to help architects design a better world. It provides access to critical information to help architects create better works.

It seeks to help improve the quality of life of the billions of people who will presumably converge on cities across continents in the next decades by providing inspiration, knowledge and tools to urban planners and architects who will have to deal with monumental urban challenges in the not too distant future.
