Prospects for cooperation between Iranian varsities and the University of Vigo, a public institution located in the city of Vigo, Galicia, Spain, were discussed on Friday at a meeting held at the Spanish university.
The meeting was held between Iran’s cultural attaché Ali Reza Esmaili and deputy head of Vigo University (Universidade de Vigo) Professor Dolores Gonzalez from the Department of English, French and German Philology, with expertise in historical linguistics, sociolinguistics and syntax.
Subjects of discussion included the addition of Persian language and literature as the second, optional language in the curriculum of the present academic majors at Vigo’s department of English, French and German philology, IRNA reported.
Esmaili’s proposal will be discussed with the relevant officials of Vigo University, Gonzales said.
For joint programs Esmaili proposed cultural events at the University of Vigo featuring Iranian cinema and visual arts.
Gonzales said, “Students (in our university) would be interested in Iranian cinema which is well known to the world, having won an Oscar recently.”
He suggested that a theater in Vigo can screen Iranian films during the Iran Film Week.
The two sides agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the near future.
