‘Painting Pool’ for Canadian Festival

Maziar Miri’s ‘Painting Pool’ will be showcased at the 2015 Victoria Film Festival, to be held from February 6-15 in Vancouver, Canada.

Miri’s acclaimed film is a 2013 Iranian drama which centers on the interpersonal dynamics between a mentally challenged couple and their child, MNA reported.

So far, the film has enjoyed several screenings and awards at various international festivals. It has been screened at the 18th Busan International Film Festival, the 2014 Shanghai International Film Festival, and won the Best Feature Film Award at the 2nd Sharjah International Children’s Film Festival in 2014.

It has also won the UNESCO Award at the 2013 Asia Pacific Screen Awards for its “outstanding contribution to the promotion and preservation of cultural diversity through film.”

Since 1995 the Victoria Film Festival has been the centre for films on Vancouver Island. The festival aims to encourage artistic innovation and creativity while providing access for a broad audience segment. It showcases over 100 feature film titles, short films and documentaries.
