The Iranian feature film ‘Daughter’ directed by acclaimed filmmaker Reza Mirkarimi will compete in the main competition section of the 10th Fiuggi Film Festival, Italy, July 24-29.

In its 30th international presence, ‘Daughter’ will compete with movies from France, Estonia, Norway, UK and Sweden, ISNA reported.

‘Daughter’ is a family drama. It brings out the intergenerational conflict between a strict father and a young daughter. The film tells the story of an authoritarian and conservative father who is upset by the behavior of his daughter. Living in a southern city of Iran, the young girl leaves her hometown for Tehran, without her father’s permission, to attend a close friend’s farewell party.

Farhad Aslani, Merila Zarei and Mahour Alvand are in the cast of the 100-minute film.

The Iranian film distribution company DreamLab Films, based in Cannes, France, owns the right for foreign distribution of the movie.

Founded in 2000, the company, managed by Nasrin Mirshab, seeks to produce, promote and distribute Iranian short and feature films, whether fiction, animation or documentary. It is the European representative of the Iranian Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.
