Tehran Game Convention (TGC) will be held on July 6-7 at the state broadcaster IRIB’s International Conference Center in Tehran.

The two-day event is organized under the auspices of Iran Computer and Video Games Foundation and is aimed to create a bridge between the major players of the industry in Iran and the international game community.

“Our main purpose in organizing TGC is to export Iranian products. Some 99% of the foreign companies attending the event are potential customers and distributors,” Mehr News Agency quoted CEO of the foundation Hassan Karimi Qoddousi, as saying at a press briefing.

“TGC is Iran’s first international video game industry event. Over 100 foreign stake holders in the industry are attending the event.”

He added, “We have seen that international game producers are not usually well-disposed to Iranian games, for whatever reasons. When foreign game companies visit the country and find it is safe for investment, they will be encouraged to collaborate with our game producers,” Qoddousi added.

Project manager of TGC, Mehrdad Ashtiani said, “The event seeks to expand international interaction with domestic game producers.”

Ashtiani said 60 lectures in five parallel tracks of game industry, namely marketing, production, game design, art and technique are planned during the convention. In addition, six master classes will be conducted.

“There are 1,100 sq meters of exhibition space at the IRIB conference center. Of this area, 750 sq meters are allocated to companies and 350 sq meters for indie game developers.

A total of 120 companies will participate in the event, 30% of which are foreign, Ashtiani added. The best game developers will be awarded.
