Play on June 1981 Bombing at Tehran City Theater

The play ‘Seven Days From Tir of 1360’, written by Kamran Shahlaee, and directed by Shahlaee and Mohammad Larti, is on stage at Tehran City Theater since June 28, and deals with the sad event of the bombing in the Haft-eTir neighborhood that occurred on June 28, 1981.
On that day, a powerful bomb went off at the headquarters of the Iran Islamic Republic Party in Tehran, when a meeting of party leaders was in progress.
Seventy-three senior officials of Iran were killed in the incident, including Chief Justice Ayatollah Mohammad Beheshti, four cabinet ministers (health, transport, telecommunications and energy), 27 members of the Majlis and several other government officials.
“The play reviews the first seven days after the bombing which were critical and insecure,” Honaronline quoted writer director Shahlaee as saying.
The banned Mujahedin Khalq Organization is thought to have been responsible for the attack. The subversive group had made several assassination attempts on leading officials and active supporters of the state especially in the early years after 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Two months after the Haft-e Tir bombing, another bomb was detonated on August 30 which killed President Mohammad-Ali Rajai and Premier Mohammad Javad Bahonar.
The theatrical work features stage actors Ramin Sayar-Dashti, Farzin Mohades, Mojgan Khaleqi, Ahmad Jafari, Hedyeh Rezaei and Farhad Tafreshi.
It will run through July 14 at City Theater located at Daneshjoo Park, junction of Enqelab St. and Vali-e-Asr Ave.
