Iran is participating in the ongoing book festival in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia.

A record number of over 200 exhibitors are participating, including 7 foreign publishers from Iran, Romania, Serbia, Hungary and Russia and the Serbian Cervantes Institute. President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev opened the festival on December 9, reports the Bulgarian Focus news agency.

Organized by the Bulgarian Book Association, the 42nd Sofia International Book fair is taking place on four floors of the National Palace of Culture, covering 1,200 square meters.

Hamid Maghsoudi, a hospital technical manager from Tehran, is present at the fair which concludes on Sunday.

The book fair boasts of a ‘meet and greet’ with writers and poets, who sign autographs at their publisher’s stand.

Started in 1968, the fair is the literary event of the year in Bulgaria and attracts nearly 15,000 visitors. It presents new books, cultural events, and theatre, along with inviting special guests from around the world to display their material.
