Playwright and theater director Kiumars Moradi is to stage an adaption of Hamlet, with focus on a “lost story” between the lovers of the original tragedy written by English playwright William Shakespeare.

Written and directed by Moradi, 45, faculty member of College of Art and Architecture, Azad University, the play will open today at Tehran’s Shahrzad Theater located at the intersection of Neauphle-le-Chateau and Razi streets.

Sina Saee, 28, singer of Tik Taak rap and hip-hop band, has a role in the show. Other cast members are Zahra Behrouzmanesh, Armita Forouzandeh, Mahya Sadrzadeh, Darya Khalili, Pantea Qadirian, Delnia Qaderpour, Farhad Radman, Milad Moayeri, Mohammad Mesgari, Salman Salehi and Reza Davoudvandi.

The play tells an untold story between the Prince of Denmark Hamlet, and Ophelia, the daughter of state adviser Polonius. According to an introductory statement on the website of Tiwall (www.tiwall.com), the story is lost in the midst of political plays, war and revenge.

The 85-minute play will run through July 12 every night starting at 9 pm. Tickets are available at the website.
