The Islamic Arts Museum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is hosting the Festival of Islamic Calligraphy.

Co-organized by the museum and Iran’s Embassy, the event opened on Wednesday and will run through June 23, IRNA reported.

Opening ceremony of the festival was attended by Iran’s Ambassador Marzieh Afkham and Qur’an calligraphers from Iran and Malaysia, including Iranian master of calligraphy and literary researcher Hamid Reza Qelichkhani, 49.

The festival includes lectures and training workshops. Nastaliq script of calligraphy, calligraphic painting and Iranian miniatures are among the subjects taught at the workshops.

Also, an exhibition of calligraphy and miniature is underway on the sidelines, featuring the works of Iranian calligraphers Mohammad Ali Qorbani, Ali Tavousi, Sohrab Marzban, Hojjat Ranjbar and Amir Zekrgou as well as by miniaturists Mohammad Tariqati and Neda Zoqi.
