A photo exhibition by the Paris-based Iranian photographer Arman Molavi, underway at Seyhoun Art Gallery No. 2 in Tehran, delivers a new look at flowers and trees through the unique approach of the artist.

Titled ‘Light, Me, Flower, Tree’, it is Molavi’s first solo exhibit in Iran where he has showcased a collection of 19 photos on the theme of nature with a modern technique, galleryinfo.ir reported.

The works are the result of a long project over three different time periods. “As a student I worked on this project for the first time (almost 30 years ago) and was awarded for them too. It became a sweet memory for me, so 25 years later I referred to the same subject to take more photos with the (new) technique and experience I had gained,” Molavi said.

Therefore, the artist resumed work on the subject between 2011 and 2012 and once again between 2015 and 2016.

By using the background as a tool to put the plants at the center of the shots, such as icons, Molavi expresses his love for the vegetal world which never left him since childhood. With his use of negatives, he confounds the viewers’ usual perceptions. The colors are unique, they are neither hot nor cold; they sparkle.

On the distinction between his works and other nature photos, he explains, “I worked on the lighting of the subjects so much that you can see the details of the leaves and the flowers too, as if they have been scanned. Many people who see the photos, at first glance, feel that they are paintings”.

Molavi, 54, is a graduate of ETPA (School of Photo and Game Design) in Toulouse, France. His modern technique has earned him many accolades and credentials.

With over 30 years of experience and a diverse knowledge base that spans the field of fashion, fine art, photojournalism and corporate photography, he has earned a high level of expertise. He has exhibited his works at different galleries in France and Italy.

The photos are on display through June 13 at Seyhoun Gallery located at No. 24, Sanaei Alley., Keyhan St., Moqadas Ardebili Ave.
