Arasbaran to Host Mystic Music

Arasbaran Cultural Center in Tehran is to host a program of ‘mystic music’ on June 8, starting at 9 pm.

The program titled ‘1,000 Seda’ (1,000 voices) features music ensembles Bidad, led by vocalist of the band Alia Kazemian and Navaye-Khial, led by tar and tonbak player Jahanbakhsh Ahmadpour, with vocalist Hossein Pirhayati.

Another ensemble that will perform at the event is Malek whose singers are Mohamamd Afrouz, Ali Reza Jafarzadeh, Jaber Barzegar and Ali Bonyadi, according to the center’s website arasbaran.farhangsara.ir.

The ensembles will render a selection of compositions by composer and santur player Faramarz Payvar (1933-2009); classical and traditional singer, composer and master of Iranian music Mohammad Reza Shajarian, 76; pop and folk singer Akbar Golpayegani, 83; and singer of traditional and religious songs Seyed Javad Zabihi.

At the program, composer and santur player Milad Kiaee, 73, and classical vocalist and musician Hamid Reza Nourbakhsh, 52, will analyze the music performances and songs presented.

Poet, lyricist, author and music researcher Ali Reza Pouromid, 58, will deliver a review on the lyrics of the repertoire.

 Arasbaran Cultural Center is located on Jolfa Street near Seyed-Khandan Bridge.
