‘The Fish and I’ Wins Fifth Int’l Prize

The short film ‘The Fish and I’ directed and acted by Babak Habibifar won a prize at the 8th annual ‘Short Short Story Film Festival’ held in the US State of Rhode Island, last month. The film bagged its fifth prize at the American Filmfest, MNA reported.

The festival included both live-action and animated films from across the globe, all of which told a story in under six minutes. The audiences voted for ‘The Fish and I’ as the best film.

Two other films from Iran were also present at the festival. ‘The Belief’ by Amir Vahedi, which is a tale of war told “by using boots” and ‘Father’ by Farshid Monfared about a father who helps his son and his son who helps him back.

Previously, ‘The Fish and I’ had been awarded the prize for the best original film at Uhvati Film Festival in Serbia. Moreover, the Iranian short film won three different awards at Soria International Filmfest in Spain too. Young Jury Prize for the Best Short Film, Special Jury recognition and a cash prize on behalf of a Spanish institution were among the awards Habibifar received at the Spanish festival.

This drama short film recounts the story of a blind man trying to save his fish. Babak Habibifar is the writer, director, editor, actor and composer of the film.
