Rahmanian to Stage ‘Vancouverites’ in Canada

Renowned theater director Mohammad Rahmanian will stage the play ‘Vancouverites’ at Clutch Theater in Vancouver on June 3.

The play is about the bitter and sweet stories of Iranians living in the picturesque Canadian city. Rahmanian has written the script based on his own experience in the city with his actress wife Mahtab Nasirpour, from 2000 to 2003, ISNA reported.

The one-day performance deals with the issues of migration, homesickness and the city itself. The cast has been selected from among the students of Nasirpour’s acting class in Vancouver including Payam Barani, Noushin Bakhtiari, Negin Dehqani, Parastou Rahmanian, Pardis Karimi, Mohamad Mortazavi, Paria Nazari, Ferdows Vakilian and Mohamadreza Yazdani among others.

Rahmanian, 55, holds a master’s degree in drama from the college of cinema and theater, Tehran Art University. Besides being a theater director he has worked as a scriptwriter as well. Totally, he has over 40 works in his resume.

Three years ago, he made his first feature film ‘Bench Cinema’ that had a limited screening in the cinema halls last year.
