The 12th Street Theater Festival of Marivan in Kurdistan Province, has received 423 entries, according to the festival secretariat.

Slated for September 8-12 in Marivan city, the entries submitted for the upcoming event indicates an increase of 64%, compared to the last edition which received 273 works, Fars News Agency reported.

Renowned theater director Fateh Badparva from Marivan is the event secretary. Organizers are the provincial department of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the Department of Dramatic Arts, Dramatic Arts Association of Iran, Dramatic Arts Association of Kurdistan, Marivan City Council and the Marivan Municipality.

There is no festival theme in particular, but recommended topics are unity, solidarity, friendship, respect, peace, hope, drug addiction and unemployment, as well as environmental issues with particular focus on Lake Zaribar, located near the city.

The festival sections include: Iran Competition which has received 361 entries; and Ritual and Traditional with 62 participants. The other sections are Theater of Nations, Theater for Children and Young Adults and Guest section. Workshops and seminars will also be held on the sidelines.  Tehran has the highest number of participants with 56 entries followed by the host city with 30 participants. Kermanshah, 29 entries, is followed by Marand in East Azarbaijan and Karaj in Alborz provinces with 21 and 10 works respectively.
