Majooni to Stage Chekhov’s ‘3 Sisters’

Actor and theater director Mohammad Hassan Majooni will stage the 1900 play ‘Three Sisters’ written by Russian writer and playwright Anton Chekhov (1860-1904), at Paliz Theater in Tehran, June 6-July 7.

Rehearsals for the play started four months ago and will end in the coming days as the play gets ready for the first performance next week, ISNA reported.

Chekhov’s classic play tells the story of a family living unhappily in a provincial Russian town. Over the course of four acts, the family members interact with friends, visitors and servants and experience passion and heartbreak.

Majooni, 48, had staged the play earlier in 2010. A production of Leev Theater Group, the cast has both senior and young theater actors, and includes Saeed Changizian, Mehdi Bajestani, Pouria Rahimi Sam, Behafarid Ghafarian, Ava Sharifi, Fariba Jedikar, Hossein Hosseinian, Faraz Sarabi, Hossein Omidi, Anahita Dargahi, Farzaneh Meydani, Milad Shajareh and Siavash Naeeni.

Theater fans can see the nearly-two-hour play every night at 9 pm at Paliz Theater located at No. 69, Sepand St., Aban St., Karimkhan-Zand Ave.
