After one and half years of rehearsal, a play based on English playwright Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth has come on stage at Molavi Theater in Tehran.

‘Should Have Died Hereafter,’ directed by actor and director Seyed Reza Mousavi, 45, opens today at the main hall of Molavi Theater, ISNA reported.

The synchronization between speech techniques, music tempo and body movements were a complicated task, taking the theater group, graduates from various art majors, one and half years to coordinate their performance.

Dramaturge of the play is playwright, translator, essayist and critic Ehsan Zivaralam. The adaptation is “character-oriented and has three major roles. Music, physical movements and special techniques in body performance are new in the show.”

Cast members include Fariba Talebi, Iraj Tadayon, Tara Hejrat, Negar Salahshour, Fatemeh Sohani, Naghmeh Gorjianmanesh, Salar Samadian, Fahimeh Qanbari, Niki Ebrahim Shah and Elnaz Marefatkhah.

Professor of Art University, theater director and actor Esmail Shafiee, 51, has given advice to Mousavi in directing the 55-minute play.

William Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth is thought to have been first performed in 1606. It dramatizes the damaging physical and psychological effects of political ambition on those who seek power for its own sake.  It has been adapted to film, television, opera, novels, comics, and other media.

The play will run through a month, starting daily 8:30pm. The theater is located at No. 16, 16-Azar Street, Enqelab Avenue.
