The play ‘The Hothouse’, written by English playwright Harold Pinter and directed by Iranian theater director Mohammad-Hossein Ziksari will be staged from May 27 at Paliz Theater in Tehran.

A tragicomedy written in 1958, the play is set in an institution where there is a murder and the institution’s director orders his subordinates to find the perpetrator(s), ISNA reported.

The nature of the institution is subject to interpretation; throughout the work, it is ambiguously referred to as both a “rest home” and a “sanitarium” but its “residents” or “patients” are designated anonymously by numbers, not by  names.

Also a screenwriter, director and actor, Pinter 78, won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2005. He is one of the most influential modern British dramatists whose writing career spanned more than 50 years. His best-known plays include ‘The Homecoming’ (1964) and Betrayal (1978), each of which he adapted for the screen as well.

He also directed and acted in radio, stage, television, and film productions of his own and others’ works.

Director Ziksari also performs in ‘The Hothouse’ beside Mohsen Nouri, Mehrdad Mostafavi, Soroush Shaker, Parham Yadollahi, Samaneh Esmaili and Ali Pouya Qasemi.

The play will run through July 5 at the theater located at No. 69, Sepand St., Aban St., Karimkhan Zand Ave.
