The Italian translation of the book ‘Homay and Homayoun’ written by famous Persian poet and mystic Khwaju Kermani (1280–1352) will be unveiled in Tehran on May 10. The unveiling ceremony will be held at the cultural center of Book Institute in the presence of Nahid Norouzi, translator of the book, Carlo Saccone, professor of Persian Language and Literature at University of Bologna, Clara Corona, Italian professor and Manouchehr Sadat-Afsari, Iranian translator, ISNA reported.Born in Kerman, Khwaju Kermani visited Egypt, Syria,  Beit-ul-Moqqadas and Iraq as a young man. One purpose of his travel is said to have been education and meeting scholars in other lands. He composed one of his best known works ‘Homay and Homayun’ in Baghdad; the long poem relates the adventures of the Persian prince Homay who falls in love with the Chinese princess Homayun. Khwaju Kermani’s tomb in Shiraz, Iran, is a popular tourist attraction today. Norouzi’s Italian conversion of the book is the first complete translation of 4,435 verses into a foreign language which has been published in Italy in 400 pages. German educator Johann Christoph Burgel, 86, has written the book’s introduction. He was the director of the Institute of Islamic Studies in Bern,  from 1970 to 1995. Norouzi is professor of Persian language at the University of Bologna. She has translated a selection of works by the late Iranian poet Sohrab Sepehri (1928-1980) into Italian.
