A solo painting exhibition featuring a series of experimental works by globally acclaimed Iranian professor of cardiovascular surgery Hormoz  Mehmanesh, 60, will be hosted at e 1 Art Gallery. The exhibition ‘Shadow of Silence’ features ‘Circle of Life’ (L) and ‘Desert Rain’ by the artist a number of acrylic paintings by Mehmanesh, selected by painter, curator and art researcher Behnam Kamrani, 49, according to the gallery

website e1art.gallery.

It will open on May 12 and run through May 26 the gallery located at No. 1, Hamid Alley, Lesani St., Jebheh St., Mahdiyeh St., Elahieh neighborhood.

“You use a mirror to see your face; you use works of art to see your soul,” says  Mehmanesh quoting from Irish playwright, critic and polemicist Bernard Shaw (1856-1950), explaining his artistic motive.

The paintings are the “visual diaries” of Mehmanesh, a sort of “canvas talk” about his life. “Canvas … assimilates my imagination to reflect my soul.” The visualization of the artist’s happiness, sadness, memories and everyday preoccupations are reflected in the works.

“For me, painting begins where speech fails to express my inner thoughts and emotions.” Thus Mehmanesh finds the answer in the dance of colors on canvas. Mehmanesh is a heart robotic surgeon, among the elite in his profession. He is a selftaught painter, often rendering humans, birds and trees.

About the exhibit, Kamrani said: “The featured collection is a reflection of overwhelming joy in the discovery of art by the artist. The works presented are unique partly because the artist does not see his paintings as commercial works for sale.

”The paintings are the product of a creative and joyful mind recording a series of mysterious moments, impressions and thoughts, he said. The gallery is open all days except Saturdays. Visiting hours are from 4-9 pm.
