The 9th Tehran International Animation Festival, a biennial event, is slated for March 8-12, 2015 in the Center for Cultural Creations of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA).

“A prestigious international festival, the 5-day event will screen the best works of Iran and other countries in five cinema theaters in high-definition quality,” MNA quoted festival secretary Mohamadreza Karimi-Saremi as saying.

The festival comprises the national and international competition sections. The national section is in three subcategories of Iranian, student and free animations, while the international part includes: student and free animated films.

Starting in July this year, the secretariat has received animations from more than 70 countries, which indicates the popularity of this festival globally. So far, Germany, South Korea, and China have the most number of submissions. December 12 will be the deadline for submissions of the Iranian works while international animators can send their entries till December 16.

The evaluation is scheduled for January and the selected films will be put in four categories of competition, out-of-competition, special screening and perspective.
