Paris Photo is the premier international art fair for works in the photographic medium. This year the 18th edition of Paris Photo was held in the historical Grand Palais hosting leading international galleries.

A number of 169 galleries attended last month’s photo show in the French capital. The only Iranian art center present was the Silk Road Gallery. Director Anahita Ghabaian presented eight Iranian photographers: Kaveh and Hengameh Golestan, Shadi Ghadirian, Babak Kazemi, Tahmineh Monzavi, Behnam Sadighi, Bijan Safouri, and Jalal Sepehr, Honaronline reported.

The gallery attended the fair for the fifth time and devoted exclusively to contemporary photography. According to the director, viewers were acquainted with the best Iranian photographs in a broad artistic spectrum; photos included both renowned artists and new young talent.

The works were selected with care “to present Iran through a different angle, less portrayed in the Western press and media.”

Renowned for its innovative shows, Paris Photo is a key event for collectors and art world professionals, as well as photography enthusiasts. The platform brings together key figures, including artists, historians, writers, bloggers, photographers, and researchers, in the international art community for a cycle of conversations, interviews, debates and performances organized by guest curators.
