The 54th Bologna Children’s Book Fair (BCBF) was inaugurated on Monday in Bologna, Italy, in which Iran has a strong presence.

Iran Cultural Fairs Institute represented the country in the fair and introduced over 60 titles dedicated to children during the 4-day event, Mehr News Agency reported.

A special program ‘Iran’s Day’ is scheduled for April 4 at the Iranian pavilion and includes introduction of culture, literature and illustration. Fatemeh Asgari, a faculty member of Foreign Languages at Tehran University, will deliver a lecture on ‘translation of Pinocchio in Iran’.

Further, two Italian illustrators, Simone Rea and Arianna Vairo will talk about their experiences in Tehran. The two artists held a workshop at the Iran Cultural Fairs Institute in Tehran in January that coincided with Italy’s presence as guest of honor at the 30th Tehran International Book Fair.

The largest international trade show and book fair dedicated to children’s books, BCBF offers a great chance to discover the latest market trends in the book industry, and to meet the most important illustrators and authors dedicated to children’s books. This year’s slogan is “the natural habitat for children’s content”. The fair will conclude on April 6.
