Special Fajr Screenings of Masters of Cinema

A special section at the upcoming Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) will be dedicated to works by masters of cinema.

The 35th FIFF will be held from April 21-28 in Tehran where a total of 53 international film companies will present their productions. The secretary of the event is screenwriter and film director Reza Mirkarimi, 51.

At the Special Screening section of the upcoming edition, three Iranian and 12 foreign films will be screened, ISNA reported.

The section includes works by prominent figures of cinema such as American film director and screenwriter Terrence Malick, 73, Polish film and theater director Andrzej Wajda (1926-2016), English film and TV director Ken Loach, 80, German screenwriter, author, film director and documentarian Werner Herzog, 74, and Cambodian documentarian, film director and screenwriter Rithy Panh, 52.

Other masters whose works will be screened are Romanian filmmaker Cristian Mungiu, 48, Belgian filmmaking duo Dardenne brothers (Jean, 65; Luc, 62), Bosnian film director and screenwriter Danis Tanovic, 48, French film director and screenwriter Francois Ozon, 49, Japanese filmmaker, author and poet Sion Sono, 55, Polish film and TV director and screenwriter Agnieszka Holland, 68, and Finnish screenwriter and film director Aki Kaurismaki, 59.

The titles of their films have not been disclosed nor have the names of the three Iranian filmmakers.
