American playwright, screenwriter and author Neil Simon’s play ‘The Good Doctor,’ is on stage at 3-Noghte (3 Dots) Hall in Tehran.

Directed by theater director Arsam Fatahi, the comedy consists of a series of short plays, based on short stories and other works by Russian writer Anton Chekhov, Tiwall website reported.

An unnamed writer (obviously meant to represent Chekhov himself) suffers from writer’s block, a condition primarily associated with writing, in which an author loses the ability to produce new work, or experiences a creative slowdown, and his own artistic temperament as he narrates to the audience several of his stories.

Fatahi also acts in the play along with Salar Mosayebzadeh, Mohammad Yusefi, Niloofar Razmand, Marjan Jafari, Iman Asadi, Jalal Tabrizi and Bahar Mahmoudzadeh among others.

Simon, 89, has written more than 30 plays and nearly the same number of movie screenplays, mostly adaptations of his plays. He has received more combined Oscar and Tony nominations than any other writer.

The play will be staged until March 10. The hall is located at No. 10, corner of Mortezazadeh Alley, Kabkanian St., Keshavarz Blvd.
