‘Strange But True’ for French Festival

The play ‘Strange But True’ designed and directed by Iranian performance artist Yaser Khaseb will take part in the ‘Festival Ardanthe’ in Vanves, France, in March.

A production of Crazy Body Group, directed by Khaseb, the play will be performed at Vanves Theater on March 11, Mehr News Agency reported.

The group works in the field of mime and physical theater. Khaseb first performed it in 2009 at Fajr International Theater Festival in Tehran and then staged it for the public. He has taken it to Germany as well. Khaseb and Afshin Ghaffarian perform in the play.

About the subject of his play, Khaseb said, “Once I had a performance in Krakow, Poland, and there I visited Auschwitz concentration camp and that was how the idea of the work came to my mind.”

Through performing arts, members of Crazy Body Group, formed in 2005, have attempted to communicate with people of every culture, language and nationality. Their work is a mixture of martial arts, visual arts, drama and music.

Artdanthe is an interdisciplinary festival created in 1998. It is a program dedicated to young and creative performers during more than a month in the French city of Vanves.
