‘Rules of the Game’ (in Italian: ‘ Il gioco delle parti), one of the major plays by Italian dramatist, novelist, poet and short story writer Luigi Pirandello (1867-1936), recipient of 1934 Nobel Prize in Literature, is now available in Persian.

The three-act play written in 1918 has been translated into Persian by Iranian translator Kamran Baradaran from an English edition, and released by Chatrang Publication, a publishing house in Tehran focusing on literature and cinema, IBNA reported.

The original work is based closely on the author’s own unhappy marriage. It tells the story of Leone Gala and his wife who are separated. Their only contract is a formal visiting procedure.

The play was written before Pirandello’s big success with ‘Six Characters in Search of an Author.’ It has some of the elements of farce and is generally considered a successful work.
