The 11th edition of 100-Sec Film Festival will screen 400 films from February 22-23 at Tehran's Azadi Cineplex.
The participating films are from 27 countries and Iran, Mashregh News (mashreghnews.ir) reported.
The theme of the current event is on ethics. "Today, more than ever, we need to promote moral values in the society," said festival secretary Ali Qorbani, who organizes art and literary events for the Art Bureau, affiliated to the Islamic Development Organization. He referred to the unethical culture in driving and in issues of the environment. "The society needs to be cautioned and we try to do so via cinema."
The films are in three categories: Ethic and Lifestyle, Ethic and Work, and Ethic and Resistance Economy.
There are the two competitive sections of national and international with 1,267 participants. "We received 1,744 works, including 1,548 films in Ethic and Lifestyle, 140 films in Ethic and Work and 56 in Ethic and Resistance Economy."
In the international section, the event secretariat received 1,970 films from 101 countries, of which 59 films from 27 countries have been selected.
The festival opens at 6:30 pm today at Azadi Cineplex located at the intersection of Beheshti and Vozara streets.
The closing ceremony will be held on Friday at Andisheh auditorium of Hozeh-Honari (Art Bureau), located at the intersection of Hafez Avenue and Taleqani Street, when awards of the event - the festival statuette, honorary diploma, and $3,000 to 3 films selected by the jury - will be presented to the winning entries.
