A calligraphy painting exhibition by two Iranian artists opened at Mojdeh Art Gallery in Tehran on Friday.

Titled ‘30 Ancient Birds’, the exhibit presents 27 calligraphy paintings by Kiarash Yaghubi and Fariba Nasirian that the two artists created by writing verses from the poems of great Persian poets Hafez, Saadi and Mawlana with Nastaliq script, and adorned with Persian paintings, Mehr News Agency reported.

In a number of paintings, Yaghoubi’s calligraphy works are the focus of the work and in some others, Nasirian’s paintings overshadow the script.

Born in Tehran, Yaghoubi, 38, is a member of Visual Arts Development Institute. He holds an honorary degree from Iran Calligraphy Community and has been teaching calligraphy since 1999.

His works have been shown at over 30 solo and group exhibitions in Iran, Turkey and the UAE. Also participating in various local festivals and contests, he has won several awards.

Nasirian, 39, has been teaching Persian painting for 15 years. She has held two solo exhibits and also participated in group exhibitions in Iran, Canada, Malaysia, Turkey and the UAE.

The works are on display till February 24 at the gallery located at No. 27, East 18th St., North Allameh St., Sa’adat-Abad neighborhood.
