The 6th Expo of Iranian Contemporary Artists opened on Friday at Tehran’s Laleh Art Gallery.

The gallery has hosted earlier editions of the exhibition and in the successive years seen an improvement in both quality and quantity of the featured works, Shabestan News Agency (shabestan.ir) reported.

A total of 79 artists from eight decades are participating in the expo with over 200 works of visual art, including paintings, sketches, prints and digital arts, all considered modern and contemporary.

Prices are fair and will encourage various classes of people to take the artworks home. The highest price is 7 million rials ($184).

There are very familiar names among the participants: painter Reza Bangiz, 79, as well as relentless caricaturist and cartoonist Kambiz Derambakhsh, 74.

Other renowned artists participating in the exhibit include painter Samila Amir Ebrahimi, 67, visual artist, painter and graphic designer Behzad Shishegaran, 65, and illustrator Maneli Manouchehri, 42.  

Laleh Art Gallery is located on Tehran’s Fatemi Street, next to Laleh Hotel.

The exhibition will run through March 15 except holidays, and visiting hours are from 9 am-1 pm and 2-7 pm. The exhibit closes at 4pm on Thursdays.
