Polaris to Perform at Vahdat Hall

Setare-ye-Qotbi (Polaris, literally polar star) Music Group, an all-female Iranian pop band, will have their last performance for the current year that ends in March, at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall in late February.

In an exclusive concert for women, the band will perform pieces in five languages: Persian, Azeri, Hindi, English and French on February 23, Honaronline reported.

Led by pianist Bahar Ilchi, the ensemble includes 10 instrumentalists and five singers. Shaqayeq Tahmasbi sings in Persian, Parisa Delfani in Persian and Azeri, Mahshid Molai in the Indian language Hindi, and Kiana Kermanian in English. All four singers are from Iran and the only foreign member of the group is Mary Ruth Batowa, from the Ivory Coast, who sings both in English and French.

Armita Fahimi (electric guitar), Mehrnaz Dabirzadeh (percussion), Pegah Ebrahim (violin), Sara Parsaee (flute), Sepideh Ilchi (bass guitar), Sahar Dezvarei (drums), Parna Kuhgivi (Spanish guitar), Ava Manbari (keyboard), Thamila Tahvildari (saxophone) and Shania Shahriari (trumpet) form the ensemble.

Last year, the group’s several performances at Vahdat Hall and Niavaran Cultural Center in Tehran, were well-attended.
