Art Exhibit to Help Artists With Cancer

Shirin Art Gallery and Houman Charity Organization in Tehran will hold a one-day exhibition of artworks by female artists on February 8.

The event is organized as part of a campaign to inform the art community as well as the public about artists with cancer and ways to prevent the disease, said a post on the gallery’s Telegram channel.

Artworks of different mediums, created by 19 young and veteran women artists will be presented at the exhibit and half the proceeds will be given to the charity.

Pooneh Jafarinejad, Homa Bazrafshan, Shima Khashkhashi, Farnaz Rabieijah, Shahpari Behzadi, Leila Khatibi, Raika Mikaeilian, Farish Alborzkuh, Mahsa Karimzadeh, Laleh Soraya, Masoumeh Mozafari, Zeynab Movahed, Leila Pakzad, Mahrooz Beladi, Mastaneh Bahador, Tara Behbahani, Tania Pakzad, Pooneh Oshidari and Golnaz Qadiri are the artists whose works will be put on sale.

Established for less than a year by a number of artists, Houman is a non-profit organization which seeks to improve the conditions of artists with cancer who need emotional, financial and medical support.

In recent years, several Iranian artists have died of cancer, and there are still some who are suffering from the disease.

Shirin Gallery is one of the leading custodians and promoters of Iranian modern and contemporary art in the world. With branches in Tehran and New York, it is also committed to charity with fundraisers throughout the year.

The exhibit is open to the public at the gallery located at No. 5, 13th St., Sanaei St., Karimkhan-e Zand Ave.
