Belgian curator and art historian Michel Dewilde will speak at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art on January 31.

In his speech titled ‘Art and Public Space in the Fluid World’, he will raise questions about the relationship between art and audience in public and urban spaces and also provide examples of his own and others’ experiences in organizing art events in urban spaces, Honaronline reported.

For the past 20 years, Dewilde has been involved in planning, management and execution of exhibitions and art events in urban spaces and has gained great experience in the field.

A graduate of art history and archaeology from Ghent University in Belgium, Dewilde holds two post-graduate degrees in gender studies from University of Antwerp in Belgium and Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He has made a vast range of freelance exhibitions and projects worldwide.

He has visited the Tehran museum several times during his tours of Iran and believes that “it is one of the mega-major museums in the world, an absolute must-see, must-visit, top of the line”.

TMoCA has more than 3000 collections that include 19th and 20th century world-class European and American paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures as well as Iranian modern and contemporary art.

Dewilde curated the exhibition of works by the well-known Belgian artist and conceptual provocateur Wim Delvoye last March at the TMoCA.

The session starts at 5 pm and is free for the public. The museum is located next to Laleh Park, Kargar St.
