A collective photo exhibition titled “Tehran; Identity” will open on Friday at Tehran’s Hooner House.

A total of 17 artists have come together in creating the collection.

The goal is “to show the city as it is; not to beautify or to please,” curator Raha Dabbagh told the Financial Tribune.

With attention focused on society and urban landscapes, the exhibition “goes beyond aesthetics and seeks to shift the dialogue from non-realistic compositions and clichés to show the capital just as it is.”

The photos are a social documentary of the metropolis and incorporate originality and the photographers’ unique personal visions, says the introduction to the exhibition.

Most of the contributing photographers are up-and-coming artists with great potential, Dabbagh said.

The exhibit venue is at number 5, Sahel dead end, Razi Street, Enghelab Avenue, and visiting hours are 4 pm to 8 pm. The gallery is closed on Sundays and the exhibition concludes on February 3.
