The Persian novella ‘The Sleeping Dragons,’ the first work of teenage author Ali Golestani, has been released in Iran.

In the book published by Afarinegan Publications, Golestani, 14, narrates a fictional story following the rules of fantasy genre and using imaginary creatures found in Iranian mythological tales, Mehr News Agency reported.

The young author has written the story with Iranian folk culture in mind. “The idea of the story occurred to me when I read an article about monsters that existed in folk beliefs and superstitions of Iranians in the past. I thought to myself that these creatures are gradually being forgotten and nowadays few youngsters know of them. So I wrote the story to introduce Iranian monsters to the young people interested in fantasy genre,” he said.

The book in 183 pages is available in the market for 110,000 rials ($3).
