The 8th edition of Iran’s International Documentary Film Festival is to commence on November 30.

Organized by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), it encompasses diverse film topics including political and historical, ritualistic and religious, social, ethnological and environmental, scientific and sacred defense. The festival attempts “to disclose the truths of the world through the extremely informative genre of documentary films.”

With two different segments, the international and national film competitions will permit the viewers to differentiate with Iranian and international takes on facts.

The different categories of competition are short documentaries, medium-length documentaries, and full-length documentaries, as well as a special section of international competitive and non-competitive section, according to albawaba.com

Seven Iranian documentaries are competing in the international segment including ‘Champion and Robe,’ ‘Atlan’, ‘I Wanna Become a King,’ ‘Monsieur Setboun’, ‘Those Past Days’, ‘Nanny Hassan’, ‘Malekia and Parking’.

Their directors are, Arash Lahouti, Moin Karimeddini, Mehdi Ganji, Mahmoud Karimi, Mohammad Ali Talebi and Arash Talebi, Mohammad Bagher Shahin, Abbas Omrani respectively.

The foreign films chosen to compete in this segment are Ariel (Canada), Two Raging Grannies (Norway), Frozen Man (Uruguay), and The Man Who Made Angels Fly (Poland).

However, the main event of the festival’s itinerary is the Panorama section in which the acclaimed ‘Cutie and the Boxer’ by U.S. filmmaker Zachary Heinzerling will be screened.

The festival will conclude on December 7th.
