The intersemiotic translation of the film, ‘The Adventures of Tintin,’ will be debated by members of Tehran Translators Guild Association.

The meeting to debate Spielberg’s 3D motion capture animation ‘The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn’ will be held on Wednesday, January 18, from 3-6 pm at Art Bureau of the Islamic Propagation Organization, located at the intersection of Hafez and Somayeh streets in Tehran.

It will be attended by translator Kourosh Akef who has expertise in discourse analysis, linguistic typology and syntax. He will give a speech and conduct the program in the form of a workshop, Mehr News Agency reported.

The program aims to promote a culture for assessment of translations, improvement in functional translation and establishment of a pragmatic approach in evaluation of translation.

It also seeks to draw a distinct line between critical appraisal and evaluation in the area of translation. For the first time, the association is introducing the field of ‘translation critic.’

The principles of scientific criticism will be explained in the workshop, as well as the various approaches in critical appraisal of translation.

Participants will receive certificates from the Tehran Translators Guild Association and Art Bureau.
