An Iran-France joint play ‘Beyond the Words’ will be performed at the 35th Fajr International Theater Festival.

Produced by the French company Litecox Association and Iran’s Zendegi (life) Theater Company, the play is written and directed by Iranian Jafar Mahyari with choreography by French artist Daisy Fel, Honaronline reported.

A mix of drama, movement, shadow, music and video, the play will have its first performance in Tehran at Arghanoun Theater on January 27 and 28.

The cast includes Beatrice Garnier Ikken and Daisy Fel (France) and Saeed Abak (Iran).

Last May, Mahyari staged the Iran and Germany co-production ‘The Border’ in Tehran. He has also organized international theater workshops in collaboration with the German Newpaltz School of Fine and Performing Arts and French Le Kiosque Theater Company, in Tehran and Isfahan provinces in November 2015.

Founded in 1998, Zendegi has held numerous international theater workshops, and collaborated with performing art companies and experts from France, Germany, Canada, Croatia and Belgium.

A total of 130 plays will take part in this year’s round of the Fajr festival including 111 works from Iran and 19 international productions.

The 35th edition takes place from January 20-31 in Tehran and seven other provincial centers.

From early January till mid February, several festivals are held under the banner of ‘Fajr,’ on the occasion of the 10-Day Dawn (Fajr) Festivities to mark the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
