The French theater company Pyramid will perform a play titled ‘Index’ at the 35th Fajr International Theater Festival in Tehran slated for January 20-31.

A 2015 production, it is a choreographic piece of 5 actors and deals with the role of books in people’s lives, Theater Online website reported.

In a sitting room with a large book shelf, the five protagonists, with thirst for learning, meet and question the place of books in their daily lives.

The theatrical work offers a burlesque show of movement and mime full of humor and derision.

As no dialogue is included, the play is based on the interaction between body and settings.

‘Index’ is the 11th creation of Pyramid since its inception in 2001.

Twenty foreign troupes from 12 countries - Spain, France, Iraq, Turkey, Georgia, Poland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Greece and Japan - will perform in this year’s edition of the festival.

Theater groups from across Iran are also scheduled to perform in the capitals of seven provinces of Khuzestan, Bushehr, Fars, Yazd, Mazandaran, East Azarbaijan and Khorasan Razavi, besides Tehran.

In addition, workshops will be held during the event in each province.

From early January till mid February, several festivals are held under the banner of ‘Fajr’ to mark the 10-Day Dawn (Fajr) Festivities to mark the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
