The 11th edition of the International 100-Second Film Festival will be held from February 22–24 in Tehran.

Documentary, fiction and animated films from across the globe will participate in the Cinema International Competition section of the event. There will also be special screenings for foreign participants, ISNA reported.

A 100-second film is a full movie with all the characteristics of a feature film based on two elements of brevity and creativity; it is not a teaser, neither a musical video nor a partial feature film.

Organized by Tehran’s Howzeh Honari (Art Bureau), the call for entries was issued in May 2016 and the submission deadline is January 19.

The top three films selected by the jury in the competition section will be awarded the statues of the festival, diploma of honor and a cash prize of $2,000. Three praiseworthy films selected by the jury will also receive an honorable mention.

Given their short time (maximum 100 seconds), the films should draw the attention of the audiences besides conveying moral messages and ethical concepts.

The 100-second films are suitable for urban TV channels as well as the monitors installed in subway stations, shopping centers, banks and cyberspace.

The first round of the festival was held in 2003 and since the 6th edition it has been organized as an international event.
