A wood art exhibition by lathing master, Davoud Mollaee, titled ‘New Lathe Works,’ (Persian: ‘Kharratihaye Novin’) will open on Friday, Dec. 30, at Mess Negar Gallery in Tehran.

Gallery manager Mohammad Hassan Golchinpour told ISNA that from among the traditional arts and crafts, the gallery seeks to present those that have a lesser chance of receiving attention.”

“At art events and expos, mosaic and wood carvings have so far received more attention and appreciation than the traditional wood crafts,” he added.

Golchinpour who is a researcher in traditional arts said that lathing goes back to over 3,000 years ago.

The lathe works to be featured at the exhibit have innovative designs, and Mollaee has tried “to highlight the existing textures and knots within the art pieces.”

The opening ceremony starts at 4:30 pm. The exhibition is open to the public between 10 am and 7 pm and runs through January 2, 2017. The gallery is located at No. 5, Commercial Wing, Park Prince Building, Zayandehroud Street, North Shiraz Avenue.
