A total of 70 theater photos by 55 photographers have been chosen to compete at the 35th Fajr International Theater Festival (FITF).
The finalists were selected from among 1,025 photos submitted by 205 photographers to the festival secretariat, Iran Theater website reported. Members of the selection committee for the theater photo section of the festival included photographer and documentarian Seifollah Samadian, actor Reza Kianian and photographer Abbas Kowsari.
On selection of the final works, Kianian said, “There was a tough competition among those that qualified for the contest.”
The actor, who is an experienced photographer and poster designer himself, said that photography has grown significantly in Iran like many other fields of art and those who participated in the festival had competed fiercely.
Noting that Iran has managed to jumpstart its theater, Kianian expressed satisfaction that the performing arts have become so popular that Tehran is hosting over 100 plays each night in the presence of a large audience.
The 35th FITF will be held in Tehran from January 20-31, 2017.
