Indian Festival Focus on Iran Cinema

The 14th edition of Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF), due in January 2017 in India, has dedicated a section to exclusively focus on Iranian cinema by showing eight movies produced between 2015 and 2016.

According to the festival website, ‘A Dragon Arrives’ directed by  Mani Haghighi, ‘Born in 1987’ by  Majid Tavakkoli, ‘Identity’ by Behrooz Sebt-Rasoul, ‘Jamehdaran’ by  Hamidreza Ghotbi, ‘Lonely in Few Minutes of Silence’ by  Bahareh Sadeghi-Jam, ‘Parole’ by  Hossein Makham, ‘Drought & Lie’ by Pedram Alizadeh and ‘Lantouri’ by  Reza Dormishian are the Iranian films that will be screened during the event.

Also participating in the World Cinema section, there are two feature films from Iran, ‘Inversion’ by ‘Behnam Behzadi’ and ‘The Salesman’ by Asghar Farhadi.

Established in 2003, the CIFF is dedicated to presenting the best of international and Indian films to the audience. Versatility and creativity will go hand in hand at the CIFF to give an exceptional experience.

The 14th CIFF will be held from January 5-12 in Chennai, a city in the eastern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
