A solo sculpture exhibition by veteran artist Mansour Tabibzadeh is underway at Ace gallery in Tehran.

Titled ‘Maximal’, the exhibit showcases 15 large sculptures made of different types of wood from various parts of Iran, the public relations office of the gallery reported.

The works comprise human faces and animals including a gazelle, a buffalo and some horses. By carving the wood and gluing small pieces of wood together, Tabibzadeh has formed the big sculptures that are captivating and have a distinct look.

The exhibited artworks are among the artist’s creations in the past five years, and the largest horse on display at the show took him one year to complete.

A graduate of Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, Tabibzadeh, 62, has held tens of solo shows and participated in over 40 group exhibitions in the country and abroad.

Also a professor, he has taught painting, sculpting and industrial design at several universities across Iran. The artist is a member of the Society of Iranian Painters since its establishment in 1998.

Art enthusiasts can see Tabibzadeh’s amazing wood carvings through December 30 at the gallery located at No. 1831, next to Parsian Bank, after Rumi Bridge, North Shariati St.
