The play ‘Fear and Misery of the Third Reich,’ written by the famous German playwright Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956) and directed by Iranian Hesameddin Sharifi is on stage at Drama Theater in Tehran.
One of Brecht’s best and the first of his openly anti-Nazi works, the play deals with the life story of German people during the World War II, Tiwall.com reported.
The play consists of a series of playlets, portraying National Socialist Germany of the 1930s as a land of poverty, violence, fear and pretence.
It was followed by many more plays that were openly anti-Nazi and attempted a Marxist analysis. They were written while Brecht was in exile in Denmark and were inspired by a visit to Moscow, where he experienced the growing significance of the anti-Nazi movement there.
Ehsan Abolqasem, Ehsan Omidi, Sepid Alipur, Alireza Arjmand, Fatemeh Neyshabouri, Mahya Ahmadkhani, Aria Maleki, Najmeh Safai and Abolfazl Jamshidi are in the cast.
The 50-minute play will be staged every night at 8:30 pm until December 22 at Drama Theater Hall located at No. 2, Zohal Alley, Labafinejad St., South Felestin St., Enqelab Ave.
