Ketabshahr Bookshop Offers Discount

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on December 17 and ‘Yalda Night’ which marks the longest night of the year on December 20, Iran Ketabshahr (city of books) chain stores is offering a discount on their books and cultural products for a week.

From December 17-23, the public can use the special offers of the bookstores (not to be confused with Book City shops) across the country, Mehr News Agency reported.

“Since last year and on different occasions (the Iranian New Year, religious celebration and school opening among others) our book stores have held sales with the aim of facilitating access to books and cultural products,” Hamed Shafiq, managing director of Ketabshahr said.

Affiliated to the Islamic Development Organization (IDO), Iran Ketabshahr has over 40 branches in the country. Having a cultural-economic approach, the chain stores have been established as a measure to address the unbalanced book distribution in the country.

The first branch of Ketabshahr opened in 2004, and to date 42 book and cultural products shop have been launched in 21 provinces. Besides presenting a wide range of books in different categories, the stores are equipped with a reading room and space for children to paint and play with educational and mental toys.
