Veteran Actor, Director Reza Fayyazi to Be Honored

The veteran Iranian actor/director Reza Fayazi will be honored at the 23rd International Children and Young Adults Theater Festival in Hamedan, Iran, next week.

According to the festival’s policy making council, Fayazi will be commemorated for years of valuable service to children and young adults’ theater, Honaronline reported.

Born in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz, Fayazi, 63, graduated in theater from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Tehran. He has appeared in over 70 plays, movies and TV series. 

Among the notable films he has acted in are Bahram Bayzai’s ‘Ballad of Tara’ (1979), Rakhshan Bani-Etemad’s ‘The Blue-Veiled’ (1994) and Shahram Asadi’s ‘The Fateful Day’ (1995). The most popular series he has appeared in include, ‘Gharib’s Story’ by Kianoush Ayari and ‘ Ta-Be-Ta Tales’ by Marzieh Boroomand.

He has been involved as an actor and director both for children and adult theater. The last play he directed for children, ‘One-Minute Father’, was staged in summer in Tehran and was welcomed by the audience.

Fayazi has also published six books including plays, stories and poetry.

The festival is slated for December 12-17 and will be organized in the western city of Hamedan with several local and international theater troupes participating.
