4 Iranians Among Ukraine Design Festival Winners

Four Iranian artists are among the winners of the 2016 Center of the World (COW) International Design Festival in Ukraine.

The festival is a global forum that showcases world-class design. It promotes the design profession by creating opportunities for designers, students and the public from across the globe to learn, exchange ideas and grow professionally and includes categories for illustration, book design, graphic design, product design, interior and fashion design.

In the book design category, Hassan Karimzadeh was selected among the top 10 winners for designing the book ‘Black Miniatures’ which includes works of the Iranian veteran cartoonist Kambiz Derambakhsh, ISNA reported.

Further, in the illustration category, three illustrators from Iran were among the top 10 winners. Fatemeh Khosravian, Elham Ataeiazar and Ehsan Bahmani won awards for their illustrations.

There was also an Iranian graphic designer in the six-member jury that included five others from various countries.

Mohammad Afshar, the young Iranian jury member is an official member of Theater House Poster Designers’ Association.

Afshar, 32, has been engaged with professional poster designing in the past few years. His artworks have been displayed in various festivals around the world including Italy, Ukraine, China, Germany, Russia, South Korea, Finland, Mexico, Bulgaria, Belgium, Peru, India, Denmark and the US.

He has won many awards for his posters and served as a jury member at several international competitions as well.

Moreover, the Illustration 2016 International Exhibition, a traditional annual event in the field of illustration and book design, was held at the Dnieper central city library in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, earlier this month and showcased works of illustrators from young beginner authors to world-famous illustrators.

Over 700 works by participants from 22 countries including Ukraine, Argentina, Brazil, Iran, Canada, China, Mexico and Poland among others were selected for the exhibition.
