Iran-Italy Play at Tehran City Theater in Dec.

The Iran-Italy joint theater production ‘Fathers, Mothers and Kids’ written and directed by Arash Abbasi will be staged at Tehran City Theater in December.
A joint project of Iranian Moj Theater Group and Italian Cantieri Meticci Theater Group, the play was first staged in Tehran in November 2015 during Iran’s Resistance Theater Festival.
The troupe later staged the performance in Bologna, Italy in June this year. Currently, the play is being performed in Lecce, in southern Italy, and will start staging in Tehran from December 1, Mehr News Agency reported.
The play focuses on the theme of migration and humanitarian crises in Europe and the harsh human conditions in refugee camps. It deals with issues of war, immigration and the Middle East and in a broader sense, the relationship between parents and children.
Performed in Italian language, the play will have Persian surtitles (a caption projected on a screen above the stage in an opera, translating the text) for the Iranian audience. Although in the earlier performances the play used a cast of Italian, Russian and French actors, in the current and upcoming performances only two actresses play, Sanam Naderi from Iran and Daniela Scarpari from Italy.
Another play by Moj Theater Group ‘La Signora’ (The Lady) will also be performed at City Theater in December.
It was staged in the Italian cities of Bologna and Pisa in July. It is a one-actor play about a pregnant woman who should embark on a journey but hesitates to do so.
Another performance by Moj ‘The Author Is Dead’ was also staged in several Italian cities including Rome, Bologna, Milan and Venice in 2014.
